NCAA Community Day - EA Tiburon

| Our Community Day coverage |
Welcome to our coverage of the NCAA 08 Community Day at EA Tiburon. Damon will be representing College Dynasty, Madden Planet and EA Sports Fans at the event. He'll be asking all the questions that you need answers to - in fact, he has already been taking questions on our forum.
Damon will get hands on time playing NCAA 08 during the event. He will also get the opportunity to talk one-to-one with the producers and developers of the game.
Over the next week we'll have tons of community day content so keep checking back for regular daily updates. |
| Impressions and details ! |
Basically they have had a redesign of a lot of the Dynasty stuff and they have added some new things into recruiting. There wasn't enough time for me to dig deep into the mode myself but I did sit down with the producer and at the end of talking to him I asked him to "bullet" the new stuff for dynasty mode.
- Swing/Pitch - what swing pitch does is allow you to totally swing the decision of a recruit that is almost certain of going somewhere else. There are certain ways to do this and I'm not 100% sure of all the options but basically you are offering them something that changes their mind totally. An example is maybe the guy decides he wants playing time and the other school isn't giving it to him and you offer it. Then he may change his mind.
- Promises - They added promises so you now promise a guy something like maybe playing time to get him to come to the school. A promise will help get him but if you don't hold up to the promise you will see him transfer after the year possibly.
- On the spot commits - They now have on the spot commits that a guy can commit right then and there. Maybe at a campus visit or something.
- week by week progression - This has been added and they say it makes a big difference. Where before it was maybe 2 or 3 times a season. It's now going to be weekly thing.
- ESPN.com - The news now is using ESPN I didn't get a chance to see the news stuff but I know that they have made it so that pictures that you take during the game will show up on the paper instead of just a random picture.
- recruiting happens all year round now and is 35 guys a year
- They have changed the options for things you can do around and made it more real life. They made it so you can only do 1 in home visit now and things like that.
Other tidbits :
116 Stadiums this year
dark visors still there
- New site that users can upload 10 pictures and 5 videos to a website and allow other users to view those. There are no size limit on the video's only a limit on how many. Once you have 5 the next one uploaded will overwrite another. Not sure if you can choose which one to delete yet.
- The highlight system is unreal from what I have seen. After the game you can go back through and view all the plays of the game from different camera angles. Basically the Presentation producer told me that every game he has played he has never went in and not had his replay show up. So in a 5 or 6 minute game you should be able to view all the plays from the game and save them. If something needs to be overwritten because of the space then the replays have a greatness score. The lowest scores get deleted first. Like 1 yard runs and such will go first. you will also be able to go into this replay thing after an online game I am really liking this.
- shrine - The shrine is what displays as you are in the main menu. In the shirne are TV's and such up on the wall. The TV's display snapshots and videos that you have saved. You don't have to go into the menu to get to this they just show up as you move around your Shrine. The game also takes an auto snapshot on big play replays that happen and those are shown. At the end of a replay during the game it will show you the picture with a "camera noise"
- I saw edit player and took some screens. Going to upload those.
- Individual defensive playmaker. My favorite so far. Very nice addition. You hit "A" on xbox pre-snap and get a display that lets you use the left and right stick to change the assignment for that one guy.
- for you guys that love putting yourself in the game campus legend is it. I am going to get into that next.
- super sim - you can choose to go through play by play or just sim to the end of the game. This also goes into campus legend as you can get through games really fast. For example if you are a running back and you just scored a TD you can sim through the time your team is on defense and be back on the field as your RB in a few seconds.
- ESPN greatest games is something that now uploads your greatest games online. It's just the greatest games score but you can compare to others now. |

| EA-owned development house located in Maitland, Florida, just outside of Orlando. Tiburon was founded in 1994 as an independent development studio. It soon teamed up with publishing giant Electronic Arts, and by the end of 1997, EA had published 12 Tiburon-developed games. On April 1, 1998, EA bought Tiburon and made it a wholly-owned subsidiary. |
